The article analyzes the features of professional burnout. It has been established that the syndrome of professional burnout has a fairly wide range of interpretations, as some scientists associate it with stress, emotional tension, monotony or intensity of activity, professional maladjustment, excessive enthusiasm for the profession, unjustified expectations in the profession, inadequacy of the position held, etc. An analysis of the research of modern scientists on professional burnout was carried out. Thus, scientists believe that professional burnout contributes to the emergence of a specific form of deviance, suicidal behavior, professional maladjustment, narcissistic personality disorder, certain types of professional diseases, personal destruction. The stages are described, the symptoms and causes of professional burnout are analyzed. Taking into account the results of the theoretical analysis, we selected a block of methods and conducted a thorough experimental study of conducting a comprehensive study of professional burnout of specialists in risky professions. The set of methods includes the following methods: diagnosis of professional burnout (K. Maslach, S. Jackson), assessment of professional maladjustment (M. Dmytrov), methods of diagnosis of vitality (S. Maddi, adapted by D. Leontiev), differentiated assessment of work capacity (S. Velychkovskaya, O. Leonova), personal questionnaire “SACS” (S. Khobfol). The following results were obtained on the basis of the conducted research. The studied specialists mostly demonstrate average and low indicators of professional burnout, average indicators of professional maladjustment, vitality, high and average indicators of work capacity. In stressful situations, the subjects most often use active, prosocial, and in some cases antisocial. Factor analysis made it possible to establish that, to a large extent, the formation of professional burnout is influenced by exhaustion, unreasonable risk and underestimation of one’s own capabilities.
