FEATURES OF ADAPTАTION AND PSYCHODEFENSIVE CONDUCT OF MODERN STUDENTS

The peculiarities of the influence of mechanisms of the psychological defense on adaptation of students to studying at the university are exposed. Essence of the term «psychological defense» and differentiation of mechanisms of psychological defense of personality are defined. The psychological defense is considered as a specific functional system of activity, the basic property of which is formation of the adaptation forms of behaviour. The psychological defense is explained as conscious or unconscious behavior that helps to reduce the psychological discomfort and thereby increases the resistance to destructive factors of individual life. This regulatory system that operates in a situation of internal or external conflict and subsystem includes stabilization and poverty, including adaptation.
Interdependence of acceptance and psychological defence of personality is empirically reasonable. The differentiation of psychological defense of today’s students is carried out: the defense focused mainly on the environment (large city, significant of others, etc.) and protection-oriented way to respond to internal psychological information that injures. It is noted that the emotional and communicative features that cause the activation of psychological defense mechanisms in students, especially during application adaptation efforts, play an important role. The close combination of adaptive and protective behavior of students is considered and peculiarities of their application of particular psychological defense mechanisms are empirically investigated. The patterns of ranking the preferences and providing psychological defense mechanisms that improve adaptation to university are highlighted.
