TECHNOLOGY OF CONSCIOUS BREATHING IN THE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF POLICE OFFICERS

Abstract

The article reveals the peculiarities of using conscious breathing technology on psychodynamic principles for professional training of future police officers. The features of the relationship between conscious breathing and spheres of conscious and subconscious, its static and dynamic aspects are presented. A system of classes with the use of technology of conscious breathing for practical police officers, acquiring a Master degree was conducted. The technique of coping behavior, situational and personal anxiety and sample of styles of humor were used. Before the breathing technique, the participants were offered exercises of authoring methodology for effective perception of the information that has been obtained as a result of conscious breathing. Correlation analysis of the survey results finds out that after the session of conscious breathing the respondents have changed their attitude to the solution of the problem. The respondents were characterized by a significant decline in searching for social support. The group showed increased personal anxiety, respondents managed to rise to the surface unconscious issues that participants of breathing unconsciously concealed. This fact predetermines to direct respondents’ work on themselves, because in order to overcome any complex, fear or problem, the person must be aware of it. The growth of anxiety factor is a sign of the experiment participants’ direct awareness of personal problems. 18.75% of respondents before the conscious breathing preferred affiliative style of humor that is humor, which improves the mood of everyone around, and does not offend anyone. After breathing, the figure rose to 50%, indicating that the individuals realize the necessity of supporting each other, improving relationships in the team. After conscious breathing, the respondents unclosed the potential to work on themselves. The results obtained as a result of the survey, demonstrated the improvement of participants’ self awareness of behavioral strategies in stress and possible extreme situations.
