METHODS OF INCREASING CADETS’ INTERESTS IN THE STUDY OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE FOR PROFESSIONAL PURPOSES

Abstract

The article is aimed at studying the motives of cadets to study English for professional purposes. Theoretical analysis of positive motivation formation for the development of interest in studies and desire to succeed in learning professional English is carried out in the article. Theoretical analysis of the formation of positive motivation for the study of the English language of professional orientation in higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is fulfilled. Language in the modern world serves not only as a tool of communication, but also a means of cognition. In higher educational establishments foreign language serves primarily as an organic and compulsory component of the training of future professionals. Teaching English for cadets must include a set of practical, general, developmental, vocational and educational components. It was found that one of the most effective ways to increase the motivation of learning English is to create conditions in which students could apply their knowledge of a foreign language in practice, so that they are focused on specific areas of its application in their further professional activity.
The teacher must take into account the interests of the cadets and choose the means and forms to meet their linguistic needs within their future professional activities. It was established that learning a foreign language can be effective if it has professional orientation. The practice of carrying out any activity, including the learning of a foreign language, shows that it is possible on the basis of forming motivation as a desire to perform a certain task. The factors and conditions contributing to the creation of a stable motivation for the cadets’ study of foreign language in the close connection with the specialties of law enforcement activity are examined in the article.
