STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PERSONAL-PROFESSIONAL FULFILLMENT IN MILITARY PERSONNEL AS A FUNCTION OF LENGTH OF SERVICE

Abstract

The article presents the results of an empirical study of personal-professional fulfillment (PPF) of military personnel under martial law conditions. The study is grounded in a resource-regulatory paradigm integrating resilience, moral-value determinants of professional behavior, and mechanisms of combat experience integration. Personal-professional fulfillment is conceptualized as an integral indicator of the structural coherence of meaning-related, value-based, and regulatory components of the professional self, ensuring stability of functioning under chronic stress conditions. The sample consisted of 92 military personnel with different lengths of service whose professional activity has taken place within the context of ongoing military events in Ukraine since 2014. Participants were divided into two groups: those with up to 5 years of service and those with more than 10 years of service. The “Diagnosis of Personal-Professional Fulfillment” methodology was used for assessment. Statistical analysis included nonparametric group comparison tests and correlation analysis. The findings indicate that length of military service is associated with a tendency toward higher integration of professional values, greater readiness to overcome professional difficulties, and a higher overall level of personal-professional fulfillment. At the same time, core personality characteristics demonstrate relative stability regardless of service length. The results suggest that under wartime conditions, professional experience primarily contributes to the strengthening of the regulatoryvalue contour of psychological functioning, whereas transformations of deeper personality structures appear less pronounced. It is concluded that personal-professional fulfillment may serve as an integrative indicator of psychological maturity among military personnel during martial law and as a theoretical foundation for developing psychological support programs aimed at sustaining meaning coherence, professional identity, adaptive self-regulation, and stress resistance.
