PSYCHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE PROFESSIONAL FUNCTIONING OF THE NATIONAL POLICE OF UKRAINE PERSONNEL IN CONDITIONS OF MARTIAL STATE

Abstract

The article provides a theoretical and analytical review of the organizational and psychological aspects of the activities of the National Police of Ukraine under the conditions of the full-scale armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine. It is shown that martial law has significantly transformed the content and structure of police service: traditional law enforcement functions have been supplemented by tasks typical of defense and civil protection forces, including participation in stabilization measures in de-occupied territories, evacuation operations, documentation of war crimes, humanitarian assistance to the population, and interaction with military units. It is substantiated that organizational transformations (increased workload, intensification of activities, creation of specialized units, and the introduction of an enhanced service regime) are accompanied by the complication of the psychological conditions of professional functioning of personnel. These changes are manifested in increased psycho-emotional tension, risks of professional exhaustion, emotional burnout, and the development of stressrelated disorders. The methodological basis of the study is an interdisciplinary approach that combines legal psychology, organizational psychology, and the theory of management of law enforcement activities, using methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization, and comparative analysis. As a result, key determinants of the effectiveness of service activities in extreme conditions are identified, and the necessity of developing a system of organizational support and psychological assistance for police officers aimed at preserving psychological health, increasing stress resistance, self-regulation, and professional resilience is emphasized.
