COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING: HISTORY AND PRESENT

Abstract

The article discusses the results of research and the author’s own views on the implementation of international standards for the prevention of human trafficking in Ukraine, as well as problematic issues related to combating human trafficking. The importance of this issue at the international and national levels is emphasized. Considerable attention is paid to the issue of legal regulation of “human trafficking”. The author emphasizes the peculiarities of criminal legal qualification of human trafficking in Ukraine. Proposals are made to improve the current legislation. The article analyzes human trafficking as a modern manifestation of slavery, and examines the means of legal counteraction within the framework of national legislation. The main causes of human trafficking in the modern world are identified. In addition, the authors highlighted one of the most horrific phenomena of modern society in Ukraine and the world: human trafficking. This phenomenon has various forms in terms of its impact and negative consequences: the sale of children, use in begging, involvement in illegal activities, sexual exploitation, forced labor (slavery), experiments on the human body and psyche, forced removal of organs and body parts, use in armed conflicts, etc. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented depending on the development of global criminal trends. The issue of modern forms of human exploitation and the new challenges that the world is experiencing that pose a threat to the spread of human trafficking to almost all social groups is also covered. This indicates the relevance of research on combating human trafficking, identifying the causes and conditions that contribute to this negative phenomenon.
